Hello, and welcome to my FIRST blog entry!! I’ve been putting this off, since after so long concentrating on my character’s inner thoughts, it feels somewhat strange to be writing mine. In less than two months, my first traditionally published (I did experiment with indie and I will tell you about it in a later blog) novel, Penthouse Player, will be live. September 5th to be exact.
I’m beyond excited…but terrified, too. Tristan and Reina’s story is hot. Let me repeat that, H-O-T. Rereading through all the edits and copy edits—it finally hit me that, very soon, people who only see me as “kidlet 1, 2 or 3’s mom” are going to read the sexy stories I dream up when it’s just me and my laptop.
When I was in 1st grade, I came of the bathroom with my skirt tucked into my tights. Not a fond memory.
And… I kind of think September 5th will feel like that, all over again.
But at the same time, I’m so proud of the characters I gave life to (with buckets of help from my amazeballs agent Jessica Alvarez, and awesome editors from St. Martin’s Press, Eileen Rothschild & Tiffany Shelton). Tristan and Reina are so real to me, and like any proud mama, I can’t wait to show them off.
And on that day (who am I kidding—like all days) I will be wearing yoga pants, hiding behind my laptop.
